The Public Eye is a one-act comedy by Peter Shaffer about accountant Charles Sidley, who hires private detective Julian Cristoforou to follow his wife Belinda out of jealousy. When the three finally meet, the unconventional detective forces the couple to reconsider their marriage and expectations of one another. The play premiered in London in 1962 as a double bill with Shaffer's The Private Ear.
