A short comedy by George Bernard Shaw in which William Shakespeare, waiting at Whitehall Palace for a secret meeting with the Dark Lady of his sonnets, encounters Queen Elizabeth I instead. Shaw wrote the play in support of the campaign for a national theatre, and it was first performed in 1910.
