About the work
A Man of No Importance is set in Dublin in 1964 and follows bus conductor and amateur director Alfie Byrne. As he tries to stage Oscar Wilde's Salomé with his theatre group, he confronts his hidden homosexuality, faith, friendship and the question of whether he can accept himself.
